It has been 4 years of hard work and now the moment is finally there: starting September 19th there will be a return flight from Groningen Airport Eelde to the international ‘hub’ Copenhagen two times per day, with the possibility to have a quick and easy transfer to a flight operated by SAS or another Star Alliance carrier. With this connection Northern-Netherlands will be connected to many other airports worldwide. This is very positive news for the economic development and touristic ambitions of the northern region of the Netherlands.

From the northern part of the Netherlands there is a high amount of both leisure and business related traffic to Scandinavia. From Copenhagen there is a very easy connection to cities such as Stockholm, Oslo, Goteborg, Bergen and Helsinki. Scandinavian business clients now also will have the opportunity to meet their customers in the north of the Netherlands and return to Copenhagen on the same day.

The flights to the Copenhagen hub will be operated by Adria Airways, under the Nordica brand. All flights (including connections) and tariffs are being loaded into the booking systems during the next days, making it available to book tickets once this is completed. Tickets will be available via the known online sales channels such as,, etcetera, this is also possible via the Travel management companies and (corporate) travel agencies. On the Nordica website ( it is only possible to book flights to and from Copenhagen. In a few weeks onward flights from Copenhagen can also be booked on their website.

Star Alliance
From Copenhagen it is possible to connect onwards on one of the many flights operated by the members of Star Alliance or other Adria Airways partners. Within Star Alliance there are 28 airlines cooperating with each other, including SAS, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. This means there will be an easy connection to large cities as Singapore, Boston from Groningen Airport Eelde.

The announcement took place on the 13th of July on the apron of Groningen Airport Eelde. Sven Kukemelk, Executive Director of Nordica, was welcomed by Marco van de Kreeke, Director of Groningen Airport Eelde, during a festive event with members of the press and guests from the region. Especially for this festivity a Nordica airplane made a stop at Groningen Airport Eelde.
